Las Vegas is a 24 hour town. Some folks work nights. Some folks are retired, semi-retired, or between jobs. Some love to be in the sun and some don't.

We'll wake up to some very early tennis at the new Mesa Park (Summerlin South). Traffic is very light before 5:45 AM, the coolest part of the day.

Mesa Park is located on Mesa Park Drive, about a mile northwest of Russell Road and Hualapai Way.

Directions:

Take the west 215 Beltway to the Russell Road exit. Take Russell westward toward the mountains. Keep going uphill past Hualapai. At the second (last) "roundabout", turn right (north) on Mesa Park Drive. Continue on Mesa Park Drive a short way. Take the second left turn in to the Mesa Park parking area. The park also contains an active basketball court and a baseball field.

Directions from Tropicana:

Take Tropicana Blvd all the way west under the West 215 Beltway, to Hualapai. Continue west on Tropicana about 1/2 mile, turning left at South Town Center Drive (T junction). Proceed southwest until you reach a "roundabout". Go straight at the roundabout. You will now be on Mesa Park Drive and you should see Mesa Park. Proceed a short distance until you reach the entrance to the parking area on your right.

Directions from northwest:

Note: this is actually easier than it sounds, especially in daylight hours.

An alternate route from the northwest is to take the west 215 Beltway to the Summerlin "Town Center" exit. Follow Town Center Drive westward toward the mountains. Town Center will veer south.

At about 2 miles from the 215 exit, there will be a "T" junction. Do not go straight (this now becomes Tropicana). You need to turn right toward the mountains (southwest) to remain on Town Center Drive. After the right turn, proceed on this branch of Town Center Drive until you reach a "roundabout". Go straight at the roundabout. You will now be on Mesa Park Drive and you should see Mesa Park. Proceed a short distance until you reach the entrance to the parking area on your right.

It is a good idea to remember bottled water, tennis balls, etc.
